Last day of January!

Gosh that's gone quickly! I wonder what February will bring. Warmer weather and my Mum getting her health back to what it was I hope. January's been a bad month for illness in our family but especially with Mum. I hate worrying about her and seeing her poorly so am praying she's getting over it now. I've just booked a mini break for me, hubby Mum and my sister to Wales in May. It's one of our cheap Sun holidays. We went on them twice last year......to Whitley Bay and Hunstanton. Can't wait for this one. We have family in North Wales so will be visiting them as well. I've decided to join a Crochet Along on Facebook making a Afghan/throw. We'll be making two squares a month until December then joining them together. I've made my first two and am quite pleased with the way they turned out. I'm very impatient though and am struggling waiting for the next one to be posted. The link is here for any crocheters among you who would like to join in. Here are my first two squares :D

I can't be bothered writing any more so will sign off now. Bye Bye January.....

Stanley park January 2015

Hubby and I went for a walk in our local park, one of my favourite places in Blackpool. It was freezing cold and the lake was frozen in parts.

I'd taken some bread to feed the ducks and geese and also some seed for the pigeons. We found out a few years ago that the pigeons would land on our hands if we held our arms out and I wanted to try and get some good photo's of hubby with them. I didn't use the seed here but the bread worked.

We wandered down the side of the lake to see if we could spot some squirrels. I'd taken some peanuts for them. We came to a tree full of small birds so I decided to place some seed in hubby's hand to see if the little birds would land and take some food. I really didn't hold out much hope because we'd never tried with the small birds before. Much to our surprise one landed as soon as he'd put his arm out!

The robins were there too but wouldn't venture too close to us.

A little further on we came to a secluded area and decided to have a rest on the chopped down tree trunks. The place was teeming with Blue Tits, Robins and squirrels. I placed some seed on a trunk and sat just a foot away from them while they ate.

By this time hubby was frozen so we decided to head back to the car.
All in all a wonderful couple of hours. I've promised to take my Mum the next time we go but hopefully when the weather's a bit warmer.

I love this one! Such a shame it isn't in focus....

Wedding ring photography

I was having a play about taking photo's of our wedding rings today. It'll be 40 years in March so I thought now was as good a time as any to take some pics. I used the Bride and Groom champagne glasses we received as a gift on our wedding day. I can't believe they've survived all those years. I need a macro lens but have done the best I can with the lenses that I have. I'll be trying again but they're not too bad. 40 years!!!!!
